A guided grounding meditation with Dr. Gilbert, after Pulling Up: the energy center below your feet sits as far below as the one above your head. This teaching and guided practice come from Dr. Robert J. Gilbert's 2007 Sacred Geometry Workshop. In the opening teaching, given in October 2007, Gilbert explains why work at the centers above the head needs a counterpart below: the third eye connecting up through the crown, the hara connecting down into the earth, the heart in the center, the principle of as above, so below, and a first energy center beneath the feet, which he calls very grounding and relates to the rooting work of Chinese qigong (the area some modern systems call the earth star chakra). A second teaching from the same workshop takes up the vesica, also known as the vesica piscis, the almond-shaped form where two circles overlap, which he offers as one way to picture unity dividing into polarity, and the cathedrals of Europe, where a vesica matrix is very common: the Masons drafted the full form, used only its top part for the door, and the completed vesica, in his words, is "still there energetically." The guided practice takes about seven minutes, seated with eyes closed: rest at the platform above your head (Pulling Up helps, though Gilbert lets you begin at the crown), travel straight down the central column to its counterpart an equal distance beneath you, hold both points at once, and let curved lines of light close a vesica around your body.
