Leatherman Garage Batch #009: Adapter [Unboxing & Test]

With this adapter, Leatherman introduces the concept of decoupling the pliers from the screwdriver bit, like the Victorinox SwissTool Plus; better late than never. Obviously, from the point of view of the tool's length, the adapter is a little longer than the ratchet, but the idea of the mini ratchet wrench adaptable to the Leatherman bit holder was taken from 711L. Regarding this concept, the absence of a pocket clip (or a sheath for carrying this accessory (with or without a multi-tool)) is a result of the stinginess that Leatherman has long been known for. No needle, no tweezers. The pseudo 90° hard point, i.e. a metal/plastic contact, remains quite questionable in the long term (but when used in handle mode, the wear of the plastic should not be a problem). Note that Leatherman's old Tool Adapter allowed decoupling. So it's a Garage product, a limited edition, but we can say that the initial price (€99) is very excessive for 3D printing, a ratchet, a pen, and a firestarter. Evidemment, du point de vue de l'élongation de l'outil, l'adaptateur est un peu plus long que le cliquet mais l'idée de la mini clé à cliquet adaptable au porte-embout Leatherman a été prise par 711L. A propos de ce concept, l'absence de clip de poche (ou d'étui permettant l'emport de cet accessoire (avec ou sans multi-tool)) est une faute de la pingrerie dans laquelle s'est durablement installée Leatherman. Pas d'aiguille, pas de pincette. Le pseudo point dur à 90°, soit un contact métal/ plastique, reste assez douteux à long terme (mais en utilisation en mode poignée l'usure du plastique ne devrait pas être un problème). A noter que l'antique Tool Adapter de Leatherman permettait le découplage. Donc c'est du Garage, soit une édition limitée mais dont on peut dire que le prix initial (99 €) est très excessif pour de l'impression 3D, un cliquet, un stylo et un étincelleur.
