My favorite strat riff of all time! And one of the most underrated tunes off of Rubber Soul
The Beatles recorded The Word on November 10, 1965 at EMI Studios. John played the staccato parts during the verse on his 1961 Fender Stratocaster. It seems like one of the middle-section guitar riffs was played on the backing track, before being double-tracked
I believe that George played both of the middle-section guitar riffs on his 1961 Fender Stratocaster. Some people believe John played one of them, but George had more of the technical ability to pull off that fast of a riff. And George is not playing any other instrument on the backing track. Both John and George would've used Vox AC-30 amps
I'm using my 2022 Fender Custom Shop '63 Journeyman Faded Sonic Blue Stratocaster into my Vox AC-30C2X. My Strat has replaced pickups- Fender Pure Vintage '59 Pickups, as well as a replaced pickguard, knobs and other plastics to look closer to The Beatles Strats at the time
INTERESTING NOTES:
0:21 John hits A/D, both the D and G strings together at once. Then plays C#/E on the G and B strings together
0:35 George's left channel Stratocaster misses a C note here
0:36 George's right channel Stratocaster plays an extra D note
0:41 John plays only one C/F here
0:52 John plays a single D note, then C#/E
0:59 George's left channel Strat slides into the first note of the section
1:08 John plays a single C note, instead of C/F
1:25 John adds some vibrato to the C#
1:55 John plays A/D, then vibrato single notes
