The New Dimaagi Naxals Who Will Shape India’s Future

On Independence Day, from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced a new political label — “Dimaagi Naxals.” But what exactly does “Dimaagi Naxals” mean? Who are they? What do they believe? And most importantly — who gets to decide who is a “Dimaagi Naxal”? In this video, we start with Modi’s Independence Day speech and his “Dimaagi Naxals” claim, and then ask a simple question: What happens when ordinary citizens start questioning their government? From school children demanding teachers and better education to students protesting for their rights, young people across India are increasingly asking questions about the systems that affect their lives. We look at the voices coming from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and other parts of India, including students who are demanding something very basic — better education, proper teachers and accountability. Are these children and students really “Dimaagi Naxals”? Or are they simply citizens who have learned that questioning the government is a democratic right? Because if asking questions makes someone a “Dimaagi Naxal”… then the bigger question is: How many Dimaagi Naxals are there in India today? And can they really be isolated? So far, we have mostly asked questions about education. But we haven't even started asking the bigger questions yet. What about the promises made by Modi? 2 crore jobs every year. Black money. ₹15 lakh narrative. Doubling farmers' income. 100 Smart Cities. Namami Gange. Make in India. A stronger economy. A stronger rupee. And then there are questions surrounding major controversies and allegations involving PM CARES, PMKVY, government spending, procurement, electoral funding and other issues. We will ask those questions too. Because questioning is not anti-national. Questioning is not terrorism. Questioning is not Naxalism. Questioning is democracy. And if today's school children, students and ordinary citizens are learning to question… maybe these so-called “Dimaagi Naxals” aren't India's problem. Maybe they are India's future. Maybe the people who question today are the people who can build a better India tomorrow.
