GAUMUKH TAPOVAN TREK 🏔️ | A Journey to the Source of Maa Ganga | 14,600 Ft | the homemaker

Gaumukh Tapovan Trek — a journey that was much more than just a trek. 🏔️✨ From Gangotri to Gaumukh and onward to Tapovan, this six-day high-altitude adventure took me through steep climbs, boulder sections, rockfall zones, river crossings and some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Garhwal Himalayas. Starting from Gangotri, the trail led us through Chirbasa and Bhojbasa, along the Bhagirathi River, to the sacred Gaumukh—the snout of the Gangotri Glacier, and finally to Tapovan at around 14,600 ft, beneath the majestic Mount Shivling. From the early-morning river crossing and challenging terrain to the magical sunrise on Shivling, the magnificent Bhagirathi Sisters, Mount Meru and finally standing before Gaumukh—every moment brought a new experience. But beyond the adventure, Gaumukh felt deeply spiritual. Standing before the glacier from where the Bhagirathi begins its journey towards becoming Maa Ganga was a moment I will always cherish.
