We Built a 9,000 Sq Ft Home on a Lava Field

Welcome to Paddington, a nearly 9,000-square-foot modern custom home we built in the Entrada community in St. George, Utah. The home follows Entrada’s modern architectural style while incorporating English-influenced transitional details. Limestone, wood-paneled walls, tongue-and-groove ceilings, natural materials, wall coverings and layered textiles soften the home’s clean lines. Paddington was designed to accommodate a multigenerational family while still working for the homeowners during quieter parts of the year. The main living spaces include a great room, a kitchen with three islands, a dining room, a music room and a den. A glass atrium with a nine-foot olive tree sits near the center of the home, while eight fireplaces create smaller gathering areas throughout the property. Floor-to-ceiling windows and retractable glass openings connect the interior to the patios and surrounding landscape. The outdoor areas include a pool and spa, an outdoor kitchen and several seating and dining spaces. The home sits along Entrada’s lava fields, with views toward Red Mountain, and backs onto Black Desert Resort.
