For the last few months on and off, I have been working on a modplayer with realtime depacking of samples in ram that does not need to rely on pitch baked packed samples. I did demonstrate a good 8 years back, the pitch baked modplayer (which at the time could only do a few mod commands) and this was in the kaos64 single filer demo. This new implementation runs at a lower sample rate, however there is no need anymore to have multiple same instruments at different pitches in ram. This results in approximately a 200-250k mod being able to be packed into 25k only. This is the output test of one of the mods. The full stardust memories mod by jester. for pitch changes, samples are depacked ahead of time to a small buffer where the pitches are traversed through them while the rest are inline. sample compression around 4:1. Stock c64 and all in a single file.
