The story begins when Lester Knight Chaykin, a young scientist, conducts an experiment using a particle accelerator. An unexpected event sends Lester to a completely unknown alien planet. With no explanation and barely any time to understand what has happened, Lester must fight for survival. Dangerous creatures, alien guards, deadly traps and hostile environments make every new screen a challenge. One of the game's defining features is its cinematic presentation. Using rotoscoped animation, minimal dialogue and storytelling through animation and body language, Out of This World created an atmosphere unlike the traditional platformers of its time. The gameplay combines platforming, action, exploration and puzzle solving. Lester eventually obtains an alien weapon that allows him to shoot enemies, create energy shields and overcome certain obstacles. Many situations require observation, experimentation and learning from your mistakes.
