Written by frequent Williams collaborator, Danny Flowers, the song was first played in Eric Clapton's hotel room, after a Clapton concert in which Don Williams and his band were opening act. When the impromptu "Tulsa Time" jam had ended, Clapton exclaimed that he was going to record the song. Williams interjected, "You can't record it - I'm going to record it!" Both artists did end up recording the song, however the definitive version belongs to Country music's gentle giant, Don Williams.
