Eulogy of the late JOHN KIPKEMOI ARAP CHEPKWONY PS on Life History of the Late John Kipkemoi Arap Chepkwony The late John Kipkemoi Arap Chepkwony, fondly known as Chepsigis, was born in 1941 in Tulwapmoi Village, Chemosot Location, Bureti Sub-county, Kericho County, to the late Chebasangany and Chebore Barng’entuny. He began his education at Getarwet Primary School and later joined Tulwet Primary School, completing his primary education in the early 1960s. Due to financial challenges, he was unable to continue with further studies and instead remained at home to support his family. John later focused on farming, becoming one of the pioneers of modern dairy and maize farming in his area. In the early 1970s, he joined African Highlands Group of Estates, where he served diligently in different estates for over twenty years before retiring in 1996. He later managed a butchery business until the 2007–2008 post-election violence affected the business. In 1968, he married his beloved wife, Priscillah Chepkwony, and together they were blessed with nine children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John was known for his kindness, hard work, dedication to family, and strong belief in education, often encouraging younger generations to pursue learning. Though not a regular churchgoer, he respected God and the church. Following an accident in 2023, he briefly participated in church activities. Sadly, on May 9, 2026, he passed away after slipping into a fast-moving river while returning home. He was 85 years old. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
