No campsites, no reservations… just us, a self-contained camper (Corby), and some of the most epic scenery in the world. But what’s it really like to live and sleep out of a van here? From frustrating first nights to off-grid breakfasts by the lake, here’s everything no one tells you about freedom camping in New Zealand. We head off to Rotorua, the home of the hot springs, and finally get to visit Hobbiton from the Lord of the rings and the Hobbit movies.
