Hudswell Clarke 1800 was built in 1947 for the British Sugar Corporation in Peterborough. But, today, it is more well known for taking the role of "Thomas the Tank Engine," pulling trains on the Nene Valley Railway. It was the first locomotive to play the character, and was named by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry himself; but it also inspired his son, Christopher Awdry, to continue writing the Railway Series. 00:00 Introduction 00:25 BSC (1920 - 1969) 01:30 Peterborough Locomotive Society (1970 - 1979) 03:30 Thomas the Tank Engine (1980 - 2002) 05:22 Legal Issues (2003 - 2026) 06:11 Conclusion
