Took a ride on the very modern Chinese bullet train from Zhongshan China at the Zhongshan North terminal to Zhuhai Gongbei terminal (boarder to Macau). The train originates in Guangzhou and travels through to Zhuhai at the boarder with Macau with multiple stops including where I got on at Zhongshan. You can see a train that is travelling to Guangzhou, not stopping at this station, whizzing by. Off in the distance the train I am waiting and watching as it approaches and enters the station. The bullet train and track is new, the ride was so smooth it was amazing! For the segments traveled the train maximum speed was 196km/hr or about 122mph. The train and station facilities are modern and they do have English electronic signage and announcements but it would be good to do your homework before travelling as the ticket sales people may not speak English. You will need your passport to buy the ticket as official ID is required due to anti-scapping effort. The one-way ticket price for economy is 30 RMB (about $5 USD) an amazing value given the time it saves versus bus travel. First class ticket is 40 RMB (about $6.50 USD) and you get assigned seat that is wider. Even the economy seating is roomy with lots of leg room. While the outside temperature was 34degC inside was maintained at very comfortable 24degC (about 75F). Inside the train is a small concession stand where you can purchase small meals and drinks. They also have toilets on board, however in the economy section the toilet is the squatting version and in first class they had the seat version.
