Otis Lexan Hydraulic Elevator at Jasper County Courthouse in Rensselaer, IN

The historic Jasper County Courthouse was completed in 1898 and has three floors plus a basement. A three story clock tower stands proudly on top of the building. The third floor contains two courtrooms with a glass chandelier in between the two. The third floor has many stained glass panels as well. The elevator was installed in 1982 is an Otis with Lexan Fixtures. Despite the building having a basement, the elevator doesn’t access the basement. The cab has wooden walls and is in wonderful shape. However, this elevator doesn’t run all that great. It tends to jolt when the motor starts up and when leveling with the floor. Also, the third floor button was replaced with an Aurora Fixture at some point, which means ThyssenKrupp must maintain this elevator. Overall, this elevator could use some work.
