The Payment | Ace

This is a song about the painful realization that unreturned love is an illusion. The song chronicles the transition from the acute agony and rage of giving love without expectation to a fierce, empowering acceptance that every emotional investment, no matter how painful, always has a certain kind of 'payment' or return—a lesson learned, a self-realization, or a destined love. This is inspired by Walt Whitman's poem Sometimes with One I Love.
