Lesson 1 starts where every expensive BattleTech mistake is born: the mechbay. Before your BattleMech hits the tabletop, MegaMek, Alpha Strike, or a MechWarrior fever dream, we need to know what the machine bought, what it paid, and why tonnage keeps showing up with a clipboard. This primer breaks down BattleMech construction from fusion engines, gyros, cockpits, internal structure, armor, heat sinks, jump jets, myomer, critical slots, and weapon loadouts to the glorious spreadsheet crime scene that turns Inner Sphere hardware, Clan tech, and questionable design choices into a stompy war machine. We’ll look at familiar examples like the Wasp, Phoenix Hawk C, and Stalker, then build a custom mixed-tech monster because restraint is for people with smaller repair budgets. Tonnage matters. Critical space hates you. Heat is already filing paperwork. Admittedly, this lesson is dense. Turns out spending eighty minutes explaining why giant robots cost what they cost has that effect. Command School lessons are built more like classes than videos. Whether you're revisiting a specific concept, refreshing your memory, or trying to locate the precise moment a design decision became a maintenance problem, the timestamp directory below should help you find your way. In other words: most of it is mine, some of it isn't, and none of the BattleTech IP belongs to me. And here are some of the strong voices in the Choir I've referenced along the way: ‪@BigRed40TECH‬ for Galatea City Shenanigans (Just don't ask him to say Shenanigaming on livestream...) ‪@theblackpantslegion‬ if you don't know the referenced historian http://sarna.net ‪@sarna-net‬ http://megamek.org http://sheets.flechs.net http://mekbay.com But knowing construction only gets you so far...
