Welcome back as we return to the famously haunted Temple Newsam House in Leeds, a place I firmly believe to be the most haunted house in Yorkshire.
Once again, we delve into the archives in search of accounts from real witnesses who once lived or worked at the property, as we attempt to separate the long-told stories of legend from what really happened.
In this episode, we hear more tales of the ghostly monk and the haunted Picture Gallery, as well as investigating reports of an apparition of a Tudor woman wearing a white ruff and a white lace or linen cap.
Is she really the heartbroken ghost of Lady Jane Dudley, who supposedly never recovered after the man she loved married someone else? Or is this simply another piece of folklore that has become entwined with the history of Temple Newsam?
We also turn our attention to Temple Newsam's most famous ghost – the Blue Lady. We examine the familiar story that she is the ghost of a teenage Mary Ingram, granddaughter of former owner Sir Arthur Ingram, and discover why this legend doesn't quite fit the descriptions given by two important witnesses: Lord Halifax and Nurse Anna McGovern. But if the Blue Lady isn't young Mary Ingram, then who has been haunting Temple Newsam for all these years? I'll reveal who I believe the ghostly lady in blue really is – and explain why!
