#bibleexplained #moses #oldtestament Why did God try to kill Moses on the road to Egypt, right after sending him to free Israel? Exodus 4:24-26 is one of the most skipped passages in the Torah, and it raises a question many readers are afraid to ask. This Bible study walks through Moses, Zipporah, and the lodging place in Midian, the flint stone and the strange phrase "bridegroom of blood," the covenant sign of circumcision from Genesis 17, and the parallel scenes in Exodus 12 and Joshua 5, where the same sign comes before Passover and the conquest of the land. Most people assume this is a story about a God who snaps at his own servant over a technicality. But the two verses sitting right before it, Exodus 4:22-23, reveal something else: the message about the firstborn that Moses was about to carry to Pharaoh, and why it had to begin in his own household. It is one small scene, yet it ties the covenant with Abraham to the first Passover and to Israel's entry into the promised land, one unified story of a God who marks the people he rescues. Some of the hardest scenes in Scripture turn out to say the most about mercy. #moses #bibleexplained #Exodus #biblestudy #TheOverlookedVerse
