Cameras aren’t allowed inside, so I share the stories and secrets after the visit. From there, I explore the quieter Nishi Chaya District before walking through the historic Nagamachi Samurai District, where beautifully preserved samurai houses and gardens give a glimpse into Japan’s feudal past. Lunch is at Omicho Market, where I try Kanazawa curry for the first time - surprisingly rich, comforting, and oddly reminiscent of butter chicken. But the highlight of the day comes in the evening at Joshoji Temple, where I take part in an unforgettable cultural experience with two monks.
