We Never Expected to See This Over the Whitsundays

We came to Airlie Beach expecting a few quiet days by the coast, but this turned into one of the highlights of our trip. What started as a surprise scenic flight for Sue took an unexpected turn when a last-minute empty seat meant I could come along too. With the crew kindly looking after Bronson, we suddenly found ourselves up in the air over the Whitsundays. From the co-pilot seat we flew over Heart Reef, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet and the stunning Whitsunday Islands before heading back to explore Airlie Beach itself. Back on the ground, we wander the foreshore and lagoon, enjoy a few relaxed days in town, then hitch up the Silverline and continue north with no booking and no fixed destination. Sometimes the most memorable days are the ones you never planned.
