200th Anniversary Church Chimes / Bell Ringing at St John’s Anglican Peterborough

Come and play the chimes (bells) with me for the 200th birthday service at St John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Peterborough. The bells, installed in 1911 in the 185-year-old bell tower are called the "People's Chime" because they were paid for by subscriptions from citizens of Peterborough City and County (and Peterborough residents can still request a special chiming of the bells, which the estate of Robertson Davies does every year on St David's Day in March to commemorate Welsh history). The chime are the largest set of church bells between Toronto and Ottawa. (In the background, you will hear a couple groups of visitors who climbed the original wooden two story ladder into the bell tower to watch me - believe me, climbing that ladder and swinging up into the bell tower takes a little courage, so hats off to them!), so you’ll hear some banter in the background with tips on how to play the chimes). https://stjohnspeterborough.ca/
