Buddhist-Informed Gestalt Group Therapy most prominent objective in group therapy is to own our authentic experience while we identify, observe, honor, and accept the strings that have been given to us by the systems we navigate that are separate from our true Self. We explore, in the present moment, how we connect, attach, and protect ourselves from others. We bring into our figural foreground all parts of us that have been rejected or lost in the background of our minds. This opens opportunities to make contact with our divine selves, recognizing that we are purely good enough as we are and seeing out interconnectedness through making authentic contact and acceptance of our being within the system, with increased sense of compassion to ourselves and others as each person doing their best to navigate the systems of change. Inspired by 75th Anniversary journal of the IJGP: Shay, J. J. (2017). Contemporary models of group therapy: Where are we today? International Journal of Group Psychotherapy, 67(Supp1), S7–S12.
