As we leave the Reserve behind, we weave through winding country roads, soaking up the soft morning light and rolling green pastures. 🪦 A STOP AT YURANIGH’S GRAVE Not far along our route, we make a special stop at the Grave of Yuranigh, a site steeped in deep historical and cultural significance. Yuranigh was a highly respected Aboriginal man who served as a guide and companion to the famous explorer Sir Thomas Mitchell during his 1845 expedition into inland Australia. When Yuranigh passed away, he was honoured with both Aboriginal and European burial rites—something incredibly rare for the time. His grave is marked by carved trees, a traditional Aboriginal practice, alongside a European-style headstone erected by the colonial government in recognition of his service and character.
