Harry Potter in Pathfinder 1e

If you tried to recreate the feel of a Harry Potter-style caster in Pathfinder 1e, would Wizard actually be the best class? I don’t think so. In this video, I look at how magic works in that kind of fantasy and explain why I think the Arcanist captures the feel better than the traditional Pathfinder Wizard. You still get deep spell knowledge and preparation, but with more flexibility in how that magic is actually used. I also go over an alternate cantrip progression I use to preserve that feeling of someone who is constantly using smaller pieces of magic without turning every spell into an unlimited solution. This isn’t about recreating one character point-for-point. It’s about looking at the fantasy, figuring out what actually defines it, and then using Pathfinder’s mechanics to build something that feels right at the table.
