Begin with a replacement socket in a power vise, align the hydraulic hose, and apply even pressure to carefully thread the socket onto the outside of either end of the hydraulic hose. When working with a cloth hose, most often it does not require skiving to connect the socket and nipple with a power vise. Visually inspect the socket and hose fitting to confirm that the hose has been seated completely. Reverse the power vise to accept opposite threaded components. Reinsert the hose and socket assembly into vise. Lubricate the nipple to prevent the lining from tearing as it will be threaded, and pressure sealed inside the diameter of the hose. Align nipple with socket and tighten components together. Be sure to leave a small gap between the socket and nipple for a completed assembly. This space should be manually adjusted for a tight seal.
