Man in the Long Black Coat pays a visit at the New York State Fair Syracuse NY 9/03/93

The "Man in the Long Black Coat" wasn't that frequent a guest during Dylan's Fall 1993 tour, but when he did show at during a show, he was often memorable. That was certainly the case in Syracuse, NY, September 3, 1993, where the song appeared as the first of two encores. Dylan delivers a powerful, impassioned reading of the lyrics, to appropriately spooky and moody musical backing. Most of the crowd seemed to be into it, some punctuating the song with shouts of delight, and a few even singing along now and then.
