A HubSpot workflow can run without errors and still send your sales team in the wrong direction.
In this walkthrough, I break down four problems in a real lead-intake workflow and explain the changes we made to fix them: missing attribution, conflicting contact owners, deals created too early, and Slack alerts that ignored whether someone had already booked a call.

We start with what the business actually needed to happen after a form submission, look at the original HubSpot setup, and then walk through the updated logic.
You'll see how I:
• Give the booking integration time to update the contact before assigning an owner.
• Preserve an existing contact owner instead of overwriting them.
• Capture attribution without losing the original source.
• Create a Lead for qualification before moving an opportunity into the Deal pipeline.
• Separate the automation into smaller workflows that can be reused.
• Send different Slack notifications for booked and unbooked enquiries.
