However, "ear training" or "playing by ear" mean different things for different people, and sometimes the expression "playing by ear" is used in the most lazy fashion; often as an excuse not to practice properly. Yes, everyone can play by ear, but if your ears are not good, your idea of playing by ear will sound terrible to people with good ears.
