OSSIA - Jordi Wood - 🎧 Neoclassical Felt Piano

OSSIA: musical term equating to taking an alternative passage… In my own life, there has been a constant commitment to the divergent path & going against the mainstream program. Whether it be my sensitivity, my queerness, or my choice to walk with an heart open… The ways in which I identified with my body vehicle were often filled with shame because I never fit into the crowd. To make up for how broken I felt, I masked and performed as an exemplary human being to overcompensate. What I realize now is the ‘brokenness’ I felt was actually the ways in which I abandoned myself and chose to become what I was told would be lovable & worthy. It has taken me years to accept the parts of me that have been labeled ‘wrong’ & gain the courage to live the expression of queerness, softness & open heartedness that is authentically me. In an effort to be more vulnerable & honor my commitment to allowing these challenges to inform the musical language created through my unique filter; this is my offering to that tender place within to find its expression and resonate with those who may also identify. Apologies to the deeply sensitive people who can feel into this piece. My hope is that it stirs something in you & invites you into those places which are needing love and witnessing. Lately, I find myself seeking to escape these depths because to experience them in their fullness is overwhelming. Navigating this paradigm with the heart open requires a level of commitment that has humbled me time & time again… to feel the hopeless confusion of why our fellow man interjects so much hate & inflicts so much pain against another, against the earth, against the sacred is something I will never understand. But know that your pain & hurt are safe with me. I commit to holding the field of love & tenderness in these times of difficulty & choose to cultivate a container of hope & peace, while honoring the feelings of grief & longing for a better world.
