December 4, 1976 Midnight Show

When starting up the December project, I had a feeling of the recordings I already had. The 2nd, the 4th dinner show, the 10th, so forth. One I didn't remember ever getting was the Midnight show on December 4th. A surprise but a nice one indeed. Right from the high of the dinner show, we move on to what could be the last great show of the engagement, as the following night Elvis was hampered by a sprained ankle that would hamper the shows up until the weekend. Yet for this midnight show, it ironically ended up being important as this was the first show Elvis made Sherrill Nielsen sing O Sole Mio before It's Now Or Never, and that became the last big change up to the setlist. Outside of that Elvis gave his first version of Fairytale in the engagement, and You Gave Me A Mountain was given a spoken passage for more effect. Lawdy Miss Clawdy is done for the second to last time, and the hits of Trying To Get To You and Blue Suede Shoes were done. Enjoy.
