An Instrument of Peace | Irish Traditional Music | Celtic Music | Fiddle Music

Here's my latest tune 🎻☘️ I wrote this tune in honour of St Francis of Assisi, whose feast is celebrated on the 4th of October. This year marks the 800th anniversary of his death and it was proclaimed a special Jubilee Year of St Francis by Pope Leo XIV. There is so much to be said about St Francis and there are literally thousands of books and articles written about his life. A brief summary of his life could include: his renouncing of earthly riches to live a life of radical poverty; his love for animals and nature; his prayer for peace - "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace"; his love of poetry in the 'Canticle of the Sun'; his founding of the Franciscan Friars and the Poor Clares; his setting up a crib in honour of the Nativity of Our Lord; and his receiving of the stigmata. He truly was a man of peace and is one of the greatest saints of the Church. And so the name of this tune is An Instrument of Peace.
