Why Did Jesus Ask, “My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?” | Matthew 27:45–46 Of all the questions Jesus asked, this may be one of the most difficult: “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Why would Jesus say those words from the cross? Had the Father abandoned His Son? Had something happened within the Trinity? Or was Jesus pointing His listeners, and us, to something much bigger? In this episode of Questions About Jesus, we’ll discover that Jesus’ words take us all the way back to Psalm 22, written nearly a thousand years before the crucifixion. Psalm 22 describes remarkable details that would later be seen at Calvary, and although the psalm begins with a cry of suffering, it ends with victory. At the cross, Jesus was bearing our sin and enduring the judgment our sin deserved. He took our place. And because of what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection, those who belong to Him can hold onto this promise: “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU.” — Hebrews 13:5 Maybe you're walking through a season when God seems distant. Remember: Friday looked like defeat. Sunday revealed victory. Don't judge the entire story by its darkest moment. The cross wasn't the end. The grave wasn't the end. Jesus Christ is alive. 📖 Primary Scripture: Matthew 27:45–46 📖 Supporting Scripture: Psalm 22 📺 Subscribe for more Questions About Jesus and weekly Bible teaching:    / @jeffdabbsministries   🌐 More Bible studies and resources: https://jeffdabbsministries.com 💬 Question for the comments: What does Jesus’ cry from the cross mean to you now that you see its connection to Psalm 22?
