Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Ganeshotsav, is one of the major Hindu festivals celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. It usually begins on the Chaturthi of the Shukla Paksha in the Malayalam month of Chingam (August - September). This ten-day festival is celebrated grandly in Maharashtra and several other states in India.
