How do you work well with people who think nothing like you?
Adaptability is the trait people most consistently name as important in a leader, and it comes down to reading which of four personalities is in the room, creative, analytical, relational or strategic, and adjusting how you speak to match the way they think. You are paid for coordination. The next level pays for alignment. See where you stand: https://www.masteryinsights.com/start...

What is the C.A.R.S. method?
The C.A.R.S. method sorts workplace personalities into four general types: creative, which is action oriented and commanding, analytical, which is structure oriented and cautious, relational, which is people oriented and attuned, and strategic, which is vision oriented and expansive. Nobody is only one of them. People are dynamic, so you will carry more than one and so will everyone you work with, and the type showing up in a given room can change from meeting to meeting. Adaptability is reading which type is in front of you and adjusting your language to the way they think: actions linked to outcomes for the creative, structure and documented process for the analytical, the people behind the numbers for the relational, and expanded time horizons for the strategic. It starts with noticing which of the four you default to yourself, because you cannot adjust for a bias you cannot see.
Key Concepts
The creative type: Action oriented and commanding, they have already thought through what they want done, so you meet them by linking actions to outcomes and to the strategic direction the team is heading in.
The analytical type: Structure oriented and cautious, they want the research done, the risk calculated and the process documented before they commit, so you meet them with frameworks, aligned goals and written process.
The relational type: People oriented and attuned to how others feel and what words really mean, so you meet them by bringing the client, the team and the people behind the numbers back into the conversation.
The strategic type: Vision oriented and looking ten steps or ten years out, so you meet them by expanding your own time horizons rather than holding them in the detail of what is happening now.
Career growth is a byproduct of personal growth: Adaptability begins with noticing which of the four you default to, because career advancement follows personal growth rather than the other way around.
