Less than two years ago, KTM filed for self-administration. The company had accumulated enormous debt, let go of hundreds of employees, and was sitting on a mountain of unsold stock. An insolvency report proposed withdrawing from MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 entirely as a cost-cutting measure. The racing project was, by any reasonable assessment, finished. On Friday at the Red Bull Ring, KTM's CEO Gottfried Neumeister stood at the company's home Grand Prix and said something very different. KTM has signed a five-year deal with Dorna for the new eight-fifty era. It will not sell the team. It will not sell a part of the team. And the company has returned to profit for the first time in almost two years, with revenue across KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas up more than a hundred and nine percent and nearly a hundred thousand motorcycles sold in the first half of the year.
