The Trail Marker: Everyone It Brings Home Comes Back Almost Right. | Horror Story

Somewhere in Creedmore County there's a ridge the maps round off — and on it, a cairn that isn't on any map. Everyone it has pointed home made it back. Almost. I'm the ridge runner who keeps those trails. And I'm going to tell you about the almosts. Original fiction: everything in this story is invented — the county, the ridge, and the cairn. Sleep well. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ CHAPTERS 0:00 The ninth cairn 1:00 Welcome to The Night Desk 1:24 Ridge runner 2:18 The registers 2:53 KNOX 104.7 in the fog 3:23 Eight cairns on the Nine 3:42 Emmett Shore 4:23 The binder 5:26 The first entry: 1967 6:30 The three rules 7:08 1971: Alder Lane 8:22 1989: Dannie 9:19 2004: the hunter 10:09 My first white-out 11:14 One of my records is lying 11:33 The list 12:23 The hymnal 12:41 The rescue log 13:06 The family Bible 13:42 Mrs. Odell 14:54 The second time 15:20 Emmett's last entry 16:11 This October: I went looking 16:29 The fresh yellow slash 16:55 The line of stones 17:29 It is nearly done 18:08 The compass line 18:21 All twenty-two 19:02 One door off 19:45 The binder comes with the job 20:50 Comments 21:08 Next time ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT An original horror story from The Night Desk.
