White Tiger, Liger, Lion Celebrate Big Cat Birthdays At Turpentine Creek

We're celebrating birthdays! Snowball, Fergy, and Savannah all celebrated their birthdays here at Turpentine Creek on September 30th! Watch the video and see how much they loved their special enrichments! White tiger, Snowball, turned 4 years old. If you know anything about him, you know he is crazy about enrichment of all shapes and sizes! He loves Boomer Balls and boxes, but can turn anything into a game! This includes stalking team members and guests through the fence. As predicted, he went nuts over his birthday box tower. Watch to see how quickly he destroyed it! Fergy, a liger, celebrated birthday number 8. She, too, is highly playful, though she will often ignore enrichment in favor of "playing" with people through the fence or rolling on her back and attacking her own feet. She was unsure about her special nontoxic, child-safe bubble bath that was added to her pool. After circling it and sticking her nose in to investigate, she came away with the most precious bubble beard! She gave it another cautious bat before running up to the fence to "thank" her keepers for the amazing treat. Soon, she saw her enrichment box tower blazing with a lyric referencing her name sake, which read, "Fergalicious, make them boys go loco." We don't know about "them boys," but she went loco over those boxes! They were much more her speed as opposed to those weird bubbles. Of course, she was likely motivated by the sweet treat hiding inside! Savannah, a big beautiful lioness, is the oldest of the three. She turned 19 September 30, but doesn't look a day over 3. Her favorite form of enrichment is napping and exercising her vocal cords by piping up to carol over all the other lions at the Refuge. She's a pretty blunt gal who will tell it like it is. If she doesn't want you around, you'll receive a hearty rumble and snarly scowl. Obviously, the keepers know how to speak her language: food! She got her own meat-ice-pop treat. The wind ended up getting her boxes, but she didn't mind one bit. (Though, we don't know why she would mind...Perhaps she would be upset she didn't get to spend even more time ignoring them?) All she wanted was her yummy treat! Birthdays are a big deal at Turpentine Creek, and we do our best to make every big cat, bear, and small mammal feel important by celebrating in their favorite ways.
