Rare Yellow Spider Lilies | Yokohama's Hidden Flower Temple

A short walk through Saihoji, a temple in Niiharu, Yokohama that locals call "the flower temple." Right now the grounds are full of red spider lilies (higanbana), and Saihoji is also one of the few places where you can see the rare yellow and white varieties growing side by side. The temple was founded around 800 years ago in Kamakura and moved to Niiharu about 500 years ago. Its main hall, main gate and bell tower still have their original thatched roofs, which is unusual for a temple inside a city of 3.7 million people.
