ADHD and Bipolar Disorder are often confused — and sometimes misdiagnosed. In this video, I explain the difference between ADHD vs Bipolar Disorder, including how symptoms like hyperactivity, impulsivity, distractibility, mood changes, and sleep problems can overlap but still mean very different things.
Many people assume telling the difference between ADHD and bipolar disorder should be easy. But the truth is, these two conditions share several similar symptoms. Both ADHD and bipolar disorder can involve things like talking too much, impulsive behavior, distractibility, and changes in energy levels.
Because of that overlap, it’s not uncommon for people to receive the wrong diagnosis at first. In fact, research suggests that many people with bipolar disorder are initially misdiagnosed, sometimes with ADHD or depression.
I also talk about why ADHD and bipolar disorder are sometimes misdiagnosed, why the conditions can occur together (comorbidity), and how factors like stigma and depression can complicate diagnosis.
