If I Could Have Known You (Grandpa Ferdie) This song is for my grandfather, Ferdie, a man I never really had the chance to know. He passed away when I was only three months old, leaving me with no memories of my own, just a photograph and the stories that have been passed down through my family. I never got to hear his voice, know his ways, or experience the kind of love a grandfather gives his grandchild. Sometimes, I wish I could step into that photograph, even if just for a little while, and experience a moment with him. I wonder what he would say to me, whether he would be proud of the person I've become, and what it would feel like to finally know the man I've heard so much about. This song is my way of imagining the connection we never got the chance to build — a conversation with a grandfather I never truly knew, but still wish I had. For the grandfather I never got to know. For the memories we never got to make. And for the hope that one day, in Heaven, I'll finally get to meet him. Written from the heart, for the grandfather I wish I could have known.
