Nostalgia Spectrum: Mystical

Mystical is a 1991 arcade shoot-em-up game released for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum by Infogrames. This for a 1990s game is a weird one because there is no death screen or menus the game starts immediately, when you die you drop back to the start of the game and go again. As games go its a vertical shooter where you pick up potions, scrolls and food to aid your quest, with each potion you have a limited number of shots to fire at your enemies which makes the game more of a juggling act of dodging till a potion shows up then blasting away for the hell of it. For me this felt like someone took Fued's concept and turned it into a vertical shooter and to be honest the original idea had more polish 😉
