One of Them - Week 1 | Dr. Brad Henson | July 28, 2024

One of Them - Week 1 The Church at Woodlawn Preacher: Dr. Brad Henson Original sermon date: July 28, 2024 Scripture: Acts 2:17-21; John 1:40-42; John 21:15-17 God uses ordinary, flawed, and unexpected people to do extraordinary things. Opening the One of Them series, Dr. Brad Henson follows Peter from being introduced to Jesus by Andrew, through his painful denial, to his restoration and witness at Pentecost. Peter's story shows why a believer's worst failure does not have to become their defining identity: Jesus redeems and calls people to serve him. Peter's Pentecost message points to the Holy Spirit being poured out across ages, nationalities, and social boundaries, equipping God's people to tell others about Jesus. This sermon calls the church to make the gospel clear and personal, recognizing everyday relationships as opportunities for witness. The closing challenge is specific: prayerfully identify someone in your life whom you can help come to know Christ. Main points: God values and works through people others might overlook. Christ's restoration means our setbacks need not become our signature. The Holy Spirit equips believers to communicate the good news clearly. Move from a general desire to share your faith toward loving, specific action in someone's life. Additional Scripture discussed: Numbers 11:29; 1 Corinthians 14:5. #WoodlawnChurch #OneOfThem #Peter #Gospel
