The Twenty-One Steps (Child Edition) - by PayTreeIt

The Twenty-One Steps has been out for a while now, and it has become, by far, one of the most meaningful and popular songs I have released. It has also made its way into our home—so much so that my own kids sing it around the house. So I thought… why not make a version for kids? This Child Edition keeps the heart of the original song—the reverence, the rhythm, and the reminder of the watch kept at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier—but gives it a new recording in children’s voices. The melody, cadence, and a few musical nuances have been gently adjusted to make it feel a little more accessible for younger listeners while still honoring the meaning behind every step. Part of the inspiration came from music teachers who have reached out about using this song with their students. My hope is that this version may make it a little easier—and a little more inviting—for classrooms, families, children, and grandchildren to learn the song and talk about what it represents. The Tomb Guard’s walk is not just a routine. It is a promise of remembrance for those known only to God, and for every family whose loved one never came home with a name the world could speak. I hope you—and especially the young people in your life—enjoy this version and carry its message with you.
