In this session we look at psalms forty-five and forty-six.
Psalm forty-five is celebrates the wedding of a king of Judah to his beautiful bride. This king is described as being fairer than all the sons of men and is characterised by graciousness, truth, humility and righteousness. His speech is designated as being full of grace. He is also strong and has done great exploits, subduing the enemies of God.
There is an obvious parallel to this idealised Son of David, with Jesus and His forthcoming wedding to the bride.
Psalm forty-six declares the sufficiency of the Almighty as a refuge from trouble for His people. This beautiful, short psalm has given saints a voice of confidence in dire circumstances throughout the millennia.
