BUMBULUM – The Story of Roland the Farter In the reign of King Henry II, a man named Roland was granted a manor and land at Hemingstone, in Suffolk. Other men earned their land with the sword. Roland earned his once a year, at Christmas, before the King, with one jump, one whistle, and one fart. This is a short film about a man, his family, and the most important performance of his life. — THE TRUE STORY Roland the Farter is real. The 13th-century Book of Fees (Liber Feodorum), a register of the King's lands, records that Roland held his manor by serjeanty, on condition that every Christmas he perform before the King: "unum saltum et siffletum et unum bumbulum" (one jump, one whistle, and one fart) When Roland died, the manor passed to his son, Hubert. In time, the King's clerks recorded the service as "indecens" (unseemly) and replaced it with a rent of 26 shillings and 8 pence a year. Christmas at court was never quite the same. — Made with AI tools on Higgsfield: Video: Seedance 2.5 Images: GPT Image 2.5 Music: Suno Upscaling: Topaz Video AI A Mintaka Pictures film.
