The Most Audacious Diamond Heist in History (And How One Stupid Mistake Ruined It)

In February 2003, a crew of Italian thieves known as 'The School of Turin' breached the Antwerp World Diamond Centre—a subterranean vault protected by ten layers of military-grade security. Over €100 million ($185M adjusted) in uncut diamonds, gold, and cash vanished without a single alarm sounding. It was engineered to be the most flawless technical heist in modern history. Until a panic attack on the side of a Belgian motorway—and a discarded salami sandwich—unravelled the entire operation. In this documentary, VAUX reconstructs the 28-month infiltration led by Leonardo Notarbartolo, the mechanical sabotage used to blind Doppler and infrared sensors, and the forensic investigation that brought down Europe’s most sophisticated heist crew.
