What Happens When a Gacha Story Ends (Honkai Impact 3rd)

Honkai Impact 3rd built one of Mihoyo/HoYoverse’s most ambitious stories around Kiana, Mei, Bronya. This is a deep dive into the story of Kiana’s journey, Part 1’s ending, and why Part 2 feels "different". In this video, I look back at Kiana’s character arc, her relationships with Mei, Bronya, Fu Hua, Himeko and the rest of the cast, and how Honkai Impact 3rd uses its longrunning live service game format to make its story feel different from simply watching an anime. So what happened when Part 1 ended and Honkai Impact 3rd moved into Part 2? NO this isn’t a “Honkai Impact 3rd fell off” video, I tried to understand what made Part 1 work, what Part 2 is trying to accomplish, and what this says about HoYoverse’s approach to storytelling. 00:00 Before the bomb 01:28 Kiana - The heart of the game 08:20 Value of storytelling 10:51 Where did it all go wrong? 15:25 Love letter #hi3rd #mihoyo #honkaiimpact #kiana #kianakaslana
