ACT III — First Light is an 18-song journey through awakening, transformation, gratitude, healing, community, and release. Drawing inspiration from ancient Vedic hymns and philosophical ideas, each song explores a different dimension of the experience—from the inner fire of Agni and the mystery of Nasadiya to the radiance of Surya, the unity of Purusha, the boundlessness of Aditi and the unresolved peace of Shanti. ✨ *What is Soma?* Soma is one of the most fascinating and mysterious elements of the ancient Vedic tradition. In the *Rig Veda*, Soma is simultaneously a **ritual drink, the plant from which that drink was prepared, and a divine presence associated with vitality, inspiration, illumination and ecstatic experience**. The entire ninth book, or *Mandala 9, of the Rig Veda* is devoted to Soma as it is pressed, purified and prepared for ritual use. The hymns describe its effects in extraordinary language—expansion, exhilaration, divine inspiration and encounters with a reality that feels larger than ordinary human experience. One of the most famous declarations associated with Soma appears in Rig Veda 8.48*: **“We have drunk Soma; we have become immortal; we have gone to the light.”* The exact identity of the original Soma plant remains debated, but the importance of the experience within the Vedic hymns is unmistakable. For a Western listener, Soma can be approached as an ancient exploration of **ecstasy and altered consciousness experienced as meaningful rather than merely intoxicating**. The poets repeatedly describe moments in which ordinary boundaries seem to open and something immense becomes briefly accessible. That is the inspiration for this song. It explores the experience of returning from an extraordinary state and later wondering whether what you felt was really as profound as it seemed. The song answers by remembering: **This joy is real. This love is real. What opened within us remains.** Soma becomes a song about *trusting the significance of a moment of transcendence—even after ordinary consciousness returns and the future self begins to question it.* SOH: Driving Sacred Organic House rhythms carry the entire Act forward through deep rolling bass, four-on-the-floor grooves, tabla, handpan, santoor, kora, bansuri, sarangi, tanpura and evolving world percussion.
