The Rosary: The Sword of Victory | Fr. Tyler Mentzer, MIC

When Satan thought he had won a soul, Our Lady took him back through the Rosary. On the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, Fr. Tyler Mentzer, MIC, reflects on one of the most powerful weapons God has given us in the spiritual life: the Holy Rosary. The life of St. Bartolo Longo is an extraordinary witness to this truth. Once deeply involved in spiritualism and occult practices, Bartolo experienced intense suffering in both body and soul. Even after turning away from the faith and resisting the grace offered to him, he was eventually conquered not by fear, but by the mercy of God and the maternal love of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through confession, conversion, and perseverance in prayer, he returned to Christ and discovered that the Rosary could become a true “sword of victory” against temptation, despair, and the attacks of the enemy. St. Bartolo Longo went on to become one of the greatest apostles of the Rosary, dedicating his life to spreading devotion to Our Lady and leading countless souls back to Jesus. His story reminds us that no darkness is greater than God’s mercy and no soul is beyond the reach of grace. The Rosary is not simply a devotion of repetition; it is a school of faith, a weapon of perseverance, and a path into the mysteries of Christ. As Fr. Tyler teaches, when we take up the Rosary with faith, we do not fight alone. Mary stands with us, leads us to her Son, and teaches us how to overcome evil not with fear, but with prayer, surrender, and trust in God. Take up the Rosary. Take up the sword of victory.
