🎵 Music used: The Ambientalist - Herald Of Hope SCALD arrives at Workington after a 4 day 18 hour voyage from Hansweert, Netherlands to do the annual dredging of the approach channel, basin and port. Built in 2007 as a conventional general cargo ship called RMS KIEL, later in 2008 becoming FUTURA CARRIER and transformed into a dredger in 2017, SCALD has had two completely different careers. SCALD was built from the seagoing freighter, which was designed for fuel efficiency and a low environmental impact. This ship was shortened by 20 metres at Scheepswerf Reimerswaal, and then Scheepswerf Kooiman in Zwijndrecht executed the conversion to a maintenance-friendly TSHD.
